Inauguration

On April 18, 2017 the Permaculture Noosa Committee was approached by Nick Hodgson, President of Cooroy Community Garden and Kylie Finigan, Community Development Officer with Noosa Council. They were looking for partners in the community, or community groups who would be willing to take on a management role of the gardens. The Cooroy Community Garden group worked very hard over the last few years to add important expensive infrastructure.

Conversations with the President (Maria) and other members of our organisation took place regarding the idea of partnership with Cooroy Community Garden, prompting them to give us this opportunity, for which we are very grateful.

As of August 2017 the Cooroy Community Gardens are now officially under the management of Permaculture Noosa, which is very exciting and new for most of us. We now call the gardens Cooroy Community Permaculture Gardens (CCPG).

However, some of our members have been involved from Day One. Amongst those is Events Coordinator Val, who contributed these pictures, and has this to say:

“Hi all, I have pic documented the CCPG from day one. Every plant I have talked to while watering , ha-ha. The yam planted on the 13th March, 2014 was given to me by Mel Hobbins and today it is still growing, up over the arbour. Amazing I say, it’s waited for us to return and we now have propagation pieces off it. Have a safe week and smile”.
