This lady beetle is red with a few dark spots. As its name suggests, it has a small white stripe at the bottom of its head like a “collar”.
Very similar to the white-collared lady beetle is the convergent lady beetle (Hippodamia convergens), named for the converging white markings behind the head. On the white-collared lady beetle these markings are straight. Their bodies are very slightly elongated when compared with other lady beetles.
